Each semester the CSRC receives new volunteer job descriptions for agencies and organizations. The Center can assist you in getting involved in volunteer opportunities that interest you or best suit your academic needs. It is important that you sign up through the Center in order to make certain that the agencies we work with are kept informed. Please stop by our office in 127 Hunt Union to see our list of volunteer opportunities or call a CSRC Coordinator to sign up.

Into The Streets

  • Into The Streets is our biggest service event of the academic year!
  • More than 350 students participate
  • Teams will consist of 10-13 volunteers
  • Interest Meeting - Monday, February 12th, in the Red Dragon Theater at 8 p.m.
  • Team Leader Meeting - Monday, April 15th, in the Red Dragon Theater at 8 p.m.
  • Into The Streets takes place on Saturday, May 4th

Valleyview Elementary School Winter Carnival:

  • Looking for a large student organization to help run their Winter Carnival
  • Volunteers will paired in groups of two and will run their raffle, food, arts & crafts, and game stations
  • This volunteer opportunity takes place on Friday, February 9th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

SUNY Oneonta's February Blood Drive

  • Need volunteers to table in Mills and Wilsbach dining halls for the blood drive
  • Volunteers are also needed to help check patients in on the day of the blood drive
  • The blood drive volunteer opportunities take place February 12th - February 15th
  • Bring a group of friends and sign up at the CSRC office (127 Hunt Union)!
  • You also get 1 hour of volunteer service if you decide to donate as well!

Pathfinder Village Valentines Day Dance (Need Transportation)

  • Need a group of 4-6 volunteers to assist with the Valentines Day Dance
  • Volunteers will help with decorating, passing out snacks and drinks, and cleaning up the event
  • The Valentines Day Dance takes place on Friday, February 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Goodyear Lake Polar Bear Jump (Need Transportation)

  • Need 8-10 strong volunteers to assist with event bread down
  • Volunteers will be needed to carry the hot tubs and other event items
  • This is a great opportunity to volunteer with your friends, be sure to sign up your club, team, or Greek organization!!!
  • The Polar Bear Jump takes place on Saturday, February 17th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Pathfinder Village Scattered Flurries Concert (Need Transportation)

  • Volunteers will help with event set up/break down and selling concessions
  • 4-6 volunteers needed
  • The Scattered Flurries Concert takes place on Saturday, March 9th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Pathfinder Village Easter Egg Hunt (Need Transportation)

  • Need 4-7 volunteers to assist with this fun-filled holiday themed event!
  • Volunteers will help with decorating, hiding the eggs for the hunt, fun games, and many other small activities!!
  • The Easter Egg Hunt takes place on Saturday, March 30th

Open House Volunteers

  • SUNY Oneonta Admissions is looking for nearly 50 students to help with Open House
  • Volunteers will answer any questions for the families and will even serve as temporary tour guides
  • Open House takes place on Saturday, April 6th

Pathfinder Village's Annual Splash Path 5k (Need Transportation)

  • All volunteers are welcome, sign up in large groups!!!
  • There will be all day activities, need assistance with traffic control and road safety, water stations, powder throwing, ect
  • Pathfinder Village's Splash Path 5k takes place on Saturday, May 18th

Office of Sustainability EcoReps Program

  • SUNY Oneonta's Office of Sustainability is in need of volunteers throughout the semester!
  • Volunteers will help with sustainability events, sort plastic at the Dragon Express, and assist with food waste audits
  • Long-term volunteers will be required to attend one meeting a month
  • This is a great eco-friendly volunteer program for anyone interested
  • Volunteers will make new friends and learn more about SUNY Oneonta

American Red Cross Blood Drive:

  • The blood drive occurs every month at SUNY Oneonta and it's success heavily depends on volunteers
  • If you would like to get involved, there are 3 all day tabling events each month
  • On the day of the blood drive, you can help out by registering people in who would like to donate
  • We are looking for anyone who wants to get involved, but this opportunity comes with a lot of service hours which makes it perfect for Greek Life!

Salvation Army Food Tabling:

  • Looking for 2-3 volunteers to assist with handing out free food to community members
  • This is a weekly event which takes place on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Salvation Army Soup Kitchen:

  • Need 4-5 volunteers to help clean, prepare, and serve meals to community members
  • This volunteer opportunity takes place every Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturdays Bread Soup Kitchen:

  • Requires up to 22 volunteers every Saturday; you can sign up individually or as a group
  • Volunteers will help prepare and serve food that is distributed to community members
  • Begins at 8:30 a.m. until about 1:30 p.m.
  • Volunteers must stay for the full 5 hours and cell phones are prohibited

Saturday's Bread Soup Kitchen Delivery Driver:

  • Looking for volunteers who can prepare meals and deliver them to houses
  • There are two different delivery routes: Otego & Route 7
  • Each route will be a maximum of a ten mile radius; each delivery driver receives a $20 gas card
  • Delivery drivers are required to be their at 8:30 a.m., deliveries start at 10:30 a.m.

Lord's Table Soup Kitchen:

  • 4-6 Volunteers will help at the soup kitchen (varies by need)
  • Need help preparing/serving food, cleaning up the event, and handing out prepackaged food items
  • This volunteer opportunity takes place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

St. Mary's Food Pantry:

  • Need volunteers to help unload food trucks and organize/place food in the pantry
  • This volunteer opportunity takes place every M,W,F from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Super Heroes Humane Society:

  • Looking long-term commitment
  • Shelter upkeep, cleaning, and dog walkers
  • Any time from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., everyday

Super Heroes Humane Society:

  • Looking for volunteers to work the floor and cash register
  • Any time from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for at least 2 hours

SPCA Animal Shelter (Transportation Needed):

  • Each day of the week there are many opportunities to volunteer with the animals
  • Need help with shelter upkeep, cleaning, and dog walkers
  • If interested, stop by our office in 127 Hunt Union to learn more and sign up!​​​​​​


Catholic Charities:

  • Looking for semester-long volunteers for the Aging Life Program
    • ​Shopping Transportation
    • Lighting Housekeeping
    • Friendly Visitor
  • There is an application and short orientation for this opportunity
  • Volunteer dates and times will be set after orientation

Literacy Volunteers of Otsego and Delaware Counties:

  • Need volunteers to help teach students English as their second language
  • Volunteers will come up with a lesson or topic and teach it to students one on one
  • This volunteer opportunity takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Huntington Memorial Library

Oneonta Teen Center (Come Up With Your Own Volunteer Activity!):

  • Need volunteers to socialize/engage with the teens
  • Would like volunteers to be creative and host an activity at the Teen Center (EX: arts & crafts, gaming tournaments, sporting activities, etc.)
  • Dates/times for these volunteer opportunities are TBD, so come stop by our office in 127 Hunt Union if interested!

Center for Continuing Adult Learning:

  • Looking for education majors to teach classes to senior citizens in Morris Hall during the winter and spring semesters (can teach one class session or multiple depending on your schedule)
  • Would like courses on how to use/operate technological devices (phones/computers) and technological software (PowerPoint)
  • Must come up with a lesson plan and have the classes be engaging
  • Dates/times for this teaching opportunity is TBD, so please stop by our office in 127 Hunt Union if interested!

Hampshire House Assisted Living (Transportation Needed):

  • Would like 1-2 volunteers to do weekly arts & crafts activities with the residents
  • Need 1-2 volunteers to help manage bingo nights
  • Looking for volunteers to play board games with residents and become their Game Night Host!!!
  • Volunteers must be friendly, social, and engaging (many residents don't get visitors!)
  • Requesting volunteers who can make a weekly commitment

Robynwood Nursing Home:

  • Looking for on-going volunteers who are good with the elderly, social, and engaging
  • Need assistance with bingo nights, trivia, arts & crafts, movie nights, and so much more!
  • There are many opportunities to get involved with Robynwood, stop by our office in 127 Hunt Union to learn more!
  • Volunteers must wear masks at all times and fill out a volunteer application for Robynwood's record

Robynwood Visits the City of the Hills Festival:

  • Walk through the City of the Hills Festival with Robynwood residents
  • Looking for a volunteer that's good with the elderly, outgoing/social, and can supervise their residents if needed
  • This event takes place on Sunday, September 17th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Robynwood's National Grandparent's Day Celebration Event:

  • Looking for one volunteer to be social and kind to residents on National Grandparent's Day
  • Similar to the adopt a grandparent program, we would like a semester long volunteer to make it beneficial for the residents
  • The National Grandparent's Day Celebration takes place on Sunday, September 10th from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Volunteers must wear masks at all times and fill out a volunteer application

Robynwood Nursing Home's Adopt a Grandparent Program:

  • Assist a Robynwood resident with social activities and well-needed companionship
  • Volunteers will have friendly conversations with their grandparents, and play fun activities with them
  • Will be required to take a short personality survey so we can connect you to a resident that shares similar interests as you!
  • To make this meaningful for the residents, volunteers must make a weekly one hour commitment with their assigned grandparent
  • Volunteers must wear masks at all times and fill out a volunteer application for Robynwood's records

Otsego County Big Buddy Program:

  • Looking for volunteers to be a role model and mentor for children in need
  • Volunteers will engage with their "Little Buddy" by playing games/activities with them and providing them with guidance
  • This is a semester long commitment and each volunteer is required to spend 1 hour a week with their Little Buddy

River Street Baptist Church:

  • 1-4 volunteers needed to help babysit the children every Sunday from 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Volunteers will read/play with the children
  • This is a great volunteer opportunity for childhood education majors!

Main Street Baptist Church:

  • Need 1-2 volunteers to help supervise children during their Oneonta Moms On A Mission meetings
  • Volunteers must be good with children and socialize with them
  • This volunteer opportunity takes place on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
